Maori U18 Rugby Team staying this weekend!

The Backyard Inn are proud to be hostng NZ U18 Maori Rugby Team   this weekend who will be the curtain raiser match before the Bay of Plenty Steamers and Auckland in round six of the Mitre 10 Cup on Sunday.The Side will play the Bay Of Plenty Maori Te Waiariki U19s.

Maori Rugby has a unique within the New Zealand Rugby landscape, and the talent that exists withn the Maori Communitysees maori players proportionally over represented, due to over-population, in the professional playing ranks.

Tiki Edwards the Maori Development Manager of New Zealand Rugby will be bringing 23 players and around 10 management to The Backyard Inn this weekend. We wil be taking care of the teams sleeping arrnagements and catering for thier hungry tummys! The Team will play on the 22nd September, kick off is at 2pm at the Rotorua International Stadium.
