The Backyard Inn Celebrates it's 30th Birthday!

The McLeay Family have had a happy 30 year history with Rotorua's iconic Backyard Inn (previously Kiwipaka)  we built the unique accommodation facility themselves - one of the first in New Zealand in the 80's.

"It has been such a journey . I think about the number of people we have hosted over all those years, it is very special.  Treen and I are passionate about the place and continuing the legacy" says Bev McLeay the Founder.

We are still:

- The Cocoon Cafe with good expresso, a refreshed menu & home baking.
